Bureau veritas supported Airbus to obtain approval for pioneer aircraft lifecycle services center in China

The facility is a one-stop-shop offering pioneer technical solutions to manage the entire lifecycle of an aircraft. It covers a full range of activities from aircraft parking and storage to maintenance, upgrades, conversions, dismantling and recycling services for various aircraft types, as well as the controlled distribution of used parts from dismantling.

Bureau Veritas Aero experts supported the aircraft manufacturer with the successful obtention of the European and Chinese approvals (EASA PART 145 and CAAC 145).

Bureau Veritas expert, Raquel Arcas Alvarado declared: “This project has been a one of kind innovative and multicultural experience. It’s been a very inspiring challenge to deliver in english and in chinese the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and Maintenance Management Manual (MMM), and associated procedures, including Dismantling Manuals, while setting up the Quality Management System of this unique facility” 

Beyond regulatory support Bureau Veritas also supported the manufacturer to implement the Maintenance Information System (MIS), a sophisticated software solution designed to optimize maintenance operations which is essential to build reliable maintenance operations for the long run in terms of both efficiency and costs. To help the facility in performant decision making BV provided support in creating the MIS technical specifications, defining its user acceptance test and customizing the instructions manuals for MIS use. 

The ALSC opened in early 2024. It has a storage capacity of 125 aircraft and will hire over 100 employees by 2025.
